Terpstra To Join Defender Basketball Program

May 6, 2013

(Monday, May 6; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Alex Terpstra,  a senior at Denver Christian High School,  has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Terpstra, a 6-5, 170 pound guard, helped lead Denver Christian to back-to-back state championships in 2012 and 2013 and averaged 19.6 points per game along with 3.1 assists, 4.6 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.  He’s a four-year starter and was named the Colorado Class 2A Player of the Year this season.  He was twice named first-team all-state and all-conference.  With Terpstra in the lineup Denver Christian won 83 games.

“We are very excited Alex will be joining our program,” says Dordt College head basketball coach Ross Douma.  “Being a part of two state championships at Denver Christian as well as participating on the AAU circuit with the Colorado Chaos, Alex clearly has enjoyed a great deal of success which we serve him well as he transition from high school to college.  In addition to his many accomplishments on the basketball floor, Alex is an exemplary young man and an outstanding student in the classroom.  We are looking forward to Alex being part of the Dordt College community.”

Alex is the son of Rick Terpstra and the late Roxanne Terpstra.  He plans to study business at Dordt College.
