Dordt is named a “Best in the Midwest” college by Princeton Review

August 8, 2013

The Princeton Review has again named Dordt College to its 2014 “Best in the Midwest” colleges list. Dordt is one of just 155 institutions named to the list, and one of 643 colleges named to its lists throughout the country.

“We’re pleased to recommend Dordt College to users of our site as one of the best schools to earn their undergrad degree. We chose it and the other terrific institutions we name as ‘regional best’ colleges mainly for their excellent academic programs,” said Robert Franek, Princeton Review’s senior vice president and publisher. “We winnowed our list based on institutional data collected directly from the schools, our visits to schools over the years, and the opinions of our staff, plus college counselors and advisors whose recommendations we invite.”

Also factored into the rankings are comments from Dordt students. Princeton Review asks students to fill out an 80-question survey about professors, classmates, and campus life.

“There are a lot of different ways to get involved on campus, especially because it’s a smaller school,” a junior said. Another called the spiritual life on campus “vibrant.”

Another student said Dordt “goes above and beyond what most colleges do when it comes to finding you an internship or a job after graduation.” That assertion is demonstrated by Dordt’s 96 percent placement rate, which reflects the percentage of students who find jobs or go on to graduate school within six months of graduation.
