Van Den Top To Attend Dordt College

(Monday, December 16; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Vanessa Van Den Top, a senior at Trinity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Van Den Top has played outside hitter and libero for the Tigers.  She averaged 2.5 digs and 2.4 kills per set this season with a .241 kill efficiency.  She also averaged 2.0 digs and 2.0 kills per set as a junior and was a regular as a sophomore when she averaged 1.8 digs and 1.8 kills per outing that season.

She claimed first-team all-War Eagle Conference honors as a senior and was a second-team all-Northwest Iowa Review pick this season. 

“Vanessa is coming from a brand new high school program under Trinity Christian Coach Jon Mooy that continues to grow in competitiveness and experience.  We anticipate her to bring consistent passing and defensive skills into our program, thus adding strength to very important ball control positions,” said Dordt College volleyball coach Chad Hanson.

Vanessa is the daughter of Marvin and LaDonna Van Den Top of Boyden, Iowa.  She plans to study Business at Dordt College.

Dordt College in Sioux Center, Iowa, is a comprehensive Christian college rooted in the Reformed tradition. Dordt’s athletic program is a part of the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) and the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC). 

U.S. News & World Report,, Washington Monthly, and Princeton Review all list Dordt on their best colleges lists. Dordt is home to approximately 1,400 students.
