Dordt Basketball Holds No. 5 Spot

(Wednesday, January 22; Sioux Center, Iowa)  For the third week in a row the Dordt College Defender men’s basketball team is no. 5 in the NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Defenders are currently 19-2 overall and 11-1 in the Great Plains Athletic Conference after earning two wins last week in league play.  The Defenders earned 328 points in the polling while Saint Xavier (Illinois) is no. 4 with 342 points.

Two other GPAC teams are in the top-25 with Midland at no. 10 in the weekly poll and Hastings moved up four spots to no. 15.  Morningside is in the receiving votes category of the poll.

Cardinal Stritch (Wisconsin) moved to the no. 1 spot with nine first place votes while Indiana Southeast is no. 2 and they took five first place votes.

The NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll is voted on weekly by 14 coaches across the country representing the conferences and independent affiliations which earn automatic spots in the NAIA National Championship.
