Week of Welcome

The Week of Welcome (WOW) celebration will officially kick off on Saturday, August 23, 2014, when students move in, attend an all-campus fair, meet with their advisors, and enjoy a host of activities to help them get acquainted with the college. To prepare, check out our campus map.

Saturday, August 23

7–10 a.m. Check-In/Registration/Continental Breakfast. This will be your first stop on campus. You will need to pick up welcome baskets, nametags, ID cards, information, and Little Sibs registration. Campus Center

7–10:30 a.m. Move-In. WOW staff will help you! Residence Halls

8:30 and 9 a.m. Campus Tours. Eckardt Lounge in the Campus Center

10:30 a.m. *WOW Meeting #1. B.J. Haan Auditorium

11:30 a.m. Welcoming Celebration. B.J. Haan Auditorium

12:30–1:30 p.m. Lunch and All-Campus Fair. Recreation Center

1:30–6 p.m. *Student Advising Sessions (15-20 minute sessions by appointment). Advisor offices

1:30–3 p.m. Presidential Welcome and Parent Meeting. B.J. Haan Auditorium

3:15–4 p.m. Prayer Walk. B.J. Haan Auditorium

3:15–4:30 p.m. Refreshments. President’s home

6–7:15 p.m. WOW Picnic. Recreation Center

7:30 p.m. *Meetings with Resident Assistants. Residence halls

8 p.m. *WOW Meeting #2. Various locations

Sunday, August 24

8:30–9:30 a.m. Breakfast (Families are welcome to join for $3 per person). Dining Hall.

Various times. Morning church services (shuttles available at Campus Center). Local churches

11:45–12:30 p.m. Sunday Dinner (Families are welcome to join for $5 per person). Dining Hall

12:30–2 p.m. Farewell to families

2–4:15 p.m. *Olympic Preliminaries. B.J. Haan Auditorium

4:15–5:15 p.m. *Evening Meal (Hosted by President Erik and Dr. Barb Hoekstra) President’s home

6 p.m. *Evening Church Service (shuttles available at the Campus Center) local churches

8:30 p.m. *All-Campus Worship in the B.J. Haan followed by cookies in the Grille in the Campus Center
