After graduating from Dordt College in 1985, I completed a master’s degree in School Counseling from Northern Arizona University and worked as a School Counselor from 1986-89 at Des Moines Christian School (Des Moines, IA ).  In 1989 I began my work at Dordt College as the Director of Personal Counseling.  I completed my doctoral degree from the University of South Dakota in 1996 and completed three more years of service at Dordt College in the counseling  center.  In 2000 I began teaching in the psychology program and this fall am beginning my 15th year of teaching and 26th year of work at Dordt.


I am the chair of the psychology program, serve on the Faculty Status Committee, advise students in the psychology and pre-occupational therapy programs, supervise the Field Experience placements, coach the men's and women's golf teams, and teach the following courses:
