Women's Soccer Scholar Athlete List Released

(Friday, November 30; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Seven Dordt College womens’ soccer players have earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2012 season.

Aubrey Kloosterhouse (Senior; Hudsonville, Michigan), Meghan Warners (Senior; Hudsonville, Michigan) and Elise Wedel (Senior; Buhler, Kansas) all earned the honor for the second time in their careers.  First time honorees included Shantelle Gritters (Junior; Hull, Iowa), Kathryn Heynen (Junior; Sheldon, Iowa), Kolette Heynen (Junior; Boyden, Iowa) and Lindsay Lenderink (Senior; Denver, Colorado).

Gritters, Kolette Heynen, Kloosterhouse and Wedel are majoring in elementary education while Kathryn Heynen and Lenderink are both studying nursing.  Warners is majoring in exercise science.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) has announced Friday that 492 women's soccer student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar Athletes.

In order to be nominated by an institution's head coach or sports information director, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status to qualify for this honor.
