Dordt College will be partnering with Village Northwest Unlimited to have its Special Olympics basketball team play in a scrimmage at the Dordt College versus Morningside home basketball games. The scrimmage at Dordt College will take place on Wednesday, January 23, at the De Witt Gymnasium during halftime of both the women’s and men’s games, which begin at 6 p.m. and 8 p.m.

“Dordt College relishes the opportunity to promote activities for those with disabilities,” said Glenn Bouma, Dordt’s athletic director. “Our campus is very involved in helping with Special Olympic events throughout the year. Watching, cheering, and encouraging the Village Panthers basketball team at half-time of our game will be an inspiring opportunity for us spectators and those playing.”

Dordt College also hosts indoor winter Special Olympics events and outdoor track and field events.

Village Northwest Unlimited is nationally recognized as one of the premier providers of services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and traumatic brain injuries.
