National Standards Met

(Thursday, April 24; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Two individuals and one relay team met the provisional standard for the NAIA National Championship Track and Field Meet held in late May at Gulf Shores, Alabama.

Christy Heidema had an 11.43 meter performance in the triple jump, falling just short of the automatic standard of 11.5 and was better than the provisional standard of 11.3.

Robyn Blount ran the 100 hurdles in :15.03, falling in between the automatic standard of :14.9 and the provisional mark of :15.09.

The women’s 4 x 400 relay of Siera Wilgenburg, Marisa Broersma, Blount and Katie Bonnema clipped of a 3:55.27 which was just shy of the automatic time of 3:55 and was better than the 3:56.8 mark needed for provisional status. 

The 4 x 400 time is currently the ninth best in the country.

Several Dordt relays and athletes are running at the Drake Relays in Des Moines, Iowa and the Kip Janvrin Invite at Simpson College in Indianola, Iowa.

The GPAC Championships are scheduled for May 2 and 3 Crete, Nebraska.
