Agriculture (two positions)

Dordt College is currently seeking to fill two positions in our Agriculture Department beginning August 2015. Teaching responsibilities for these positions include undergraduate courses in agriculture, plant science, agri-business, and natural resource stewardship or a combination of these courses. In addition to teaching, this position would also include participation as a full team member in department and college administrative tasks (including curriculum development and review, assessment, development of new initiatives, student recruiting and advising, and committee assignments). Qualifications for these positions include a masterís degree with significant teaching experience. An earned doctoral degree is preferred.

Communication - Journalism/New Media

The Communication Department at Dordt College seeks a dynamic classroom teacher with a record of demonstrated excellence in communications professional work to fill a full-time faculty appointment beginning August 2015. Primary responsibilities include teaching undergraduate courses in communication, journalism, new media, and related subjects; providing leadership for our multi-platform student newspaper, The Diamond; connecting students with communication internships and co-curricular placements; assisting the Communication department in revising and developing its programs to include expanded focus on journalism and new media.

A Masterís degree in communication or related field required, as well as a record of professional work in communication. A Ph.D. is preferred. A commitment to teaching from the perspective of the Reformed faith is essential.

Psychology

Dordt College is currently seeking a Psychology faculty member to teach introductory and advanced undergraduate courses in psychology beginning August 2015. Preference will be given to candidates that are able to teach a variety of courses related to their area of expertise and the general curriculum of the Psychology program. In addition to teaching introductory and upper level psychology courses, the faculty member would advise students and assist in departmental activities. Ability to teach effectively and interpret psychology in light of Reformed perspective is essential. Preference will be given to candidates with an earned doctoral degree in psychology with a specific area of expertise. Preferred areas may include clinical, cognitive, developmental or social psychology.

Application Procedure

Spring 2015 Adjunct - Chemistry Lab Instructor

The Chemistry Department at Dordt College seeks an adjunct faculty member to teach the laboratory sections during the Spring 2015 semester.

Candidates should have a desire to teach college freshmen, have excellent communication skills, have the ability to supervise undergraduate teaching assistants, and have a working knowledge of the topics and techniques covered by the laboratory courses. There will be multiple sections of the lab offered; each section meets for 3 hours per week for 15 weeks beginning January 13. A Bachelorís degree with significant relevant work experience is required; a Masterís degree in chemistry, science education, or a related area is preferred. Preference will be given to those with college teaching experience.
