OFF-CAMPUS PROGRAMS
Off-Campus Program FAQ
What off-campus opportunities are available at Dordt College?
Dordt College offers more than 30 off-campus opportunities, including programs in over 20 countries, including semester-long study abroad programs, internships, exchange programs, student teaching opportunities, summer courses, and programs in the United States. Visit the off-campus office to learn about which program is right for you.
What if I want to study on a program that is not currently approved by Dordt?
If you are interested in a program not currently offered through Dordt, it may still be possible for you to attend the program under the “Special Topics” off-campus option. You should talk with your advisor about your program selection and submit a proposal with clearly defined learning goals to the coordinator of off-campus programs.
When should I begin planning for studying off-campus?
Now! When it comes to preparing for studying abroad, it is never too early to get started. Talk with the off-campus office, your advisor, or study abroad student alumni to select a program and begin preparing the necessary academic schedule.
How can I prepare for life on my study abroad program?
While your semester off campus will likely be filled with the new and unexpected, there are some things you can do to make the most of your time. You may want to learn the basics of the language and study the country and culture. Read about your destination’s people, politics, and religion. If possible, talk with other students who have studied abroad in the region. You should prepare for culture shock, go with an attitude to expect the unexpected, and be flexible!
