Mission Statement

The Dordt College criminal justice program prepares students and the community for service by equipping them with God-centered insight, skills, and knowledge for the purpose of doing justice in the criminal justice system.

Learning Objectives

Students will be able to

  1. articulate a Reformed, Christian perspective of criminal justice and those affected by the criminal justice system
  2. analyze and critique the role and impact of the criminal justice system in contemporary culture
  3. describe the interaction of crime, the criminal justice system, and society—including deviance and the system’s process development
  4. demonstrate a firm understanding of the skills and processes critical to the criminal justice system, including limitations, guidance, and tools established by the law
  5. display a commitment to personal and professional standards, attitudes, and service to the community
