STATISTICS

Overview

“One outcome of the information age is that statistical reasoning is increasingly used by almost all professions to evaluate evidence and make data-based decisions,” says Dr. Nathan Tintle, a professor in Dordt’s department of mathematics, computer science, and statistics. A strong preparatory program in statistics will help you produce data-driven arguments and make you a more savvy consumer.

Tintle, who heads the program, has received a variety of grants for research projects that have involved students, and he leads a program that provides research opportunities for talented students. He has mentored more than 30 student researchers.

“The applied statistics minor will give Dordt students a leg up on their peers in being able to critically evaluate and produce statistical arguments,” says Tintle.
