THE DORDT COLLEGE CAMPUS
The Science and Technology Center incorporates lecture halls, classrooms, faculty offices, and special facilities for the physics, chemistry, agriculture, engineering, biology, and environmental studies departments.
Large and small laboratories for organic and physical chemistry and two physics laboratories are available to students in the physical sciences.
Agriculture facilities include animal science and agronomy labs, a surgery room, and a live animal room.
The engineering wing includes labs for mechanical engineering, electronics, electrical engineering, and computer-aided design.
The biology department has at its disposal numerous laboratories of varying sizes that are used for teaching and for student research projects.
A molecular biology laboratory with genomics equipment allows upperclass students to do DNA sequencing, DNA fingerprinting, and other types of genetic analysis. A dedicated cell culture laboratory allows students to do mammalian tissue culture experiments.
A laboratory is also devoted to work in environmental studies.
NOTE: The first phase of the Science and Technology Center construction project is complete and plans are being finalized for the completion phase. Since the fall of 2014, students have enjoyed new classroom and study spaces, as well as a new engineering wing. The completion phase will be in place in the fall of 2017 and will include new and expanded laboratory spaces, including a cadaver lab and a high performance computer cluster.
