Dordt College named one of America’s Best Colleges by Forbes.com
August 5, 2011
Forbes.com has named Dordt College one of “America’s Best Colleges.” Ranked in the top 10% of all colleges in the nation and ninth in Iowa, Dordt College provides a quality education at an affordable price.
Forbes.com focuses on the things that they feel matter most to students including quality of teaching, great career prospects, graduation rates, and low levels of debt. These rankings include only the top 20 percent of all undergraduate institutions.
“It's really gratifying that a respected national rating process has once again put Dordt College in the top 10% of all colleges and universities in the nation,” said Dordt College President Dr. Carl E. Zylstra. “This is a wonderful affirmation of the underlying quality of the educational experience that students from across the country and around the world have come to expect from Dordt College.”
Rankings are developed by evaluating five general categories including post-graduate success, student satisfaction, debt, four-year graduation rates, and competitive awards. Forbes.com looks at an institution’s value by taking into account “the overall cost of each school as relative to the quality of the education provided.”
At Dordt College, faculty work to foster close relationships with students and offer an academically challenging and supportive atmosphere. Upon graduation, students average just $21,200 in debt, lower than the national average and lower than many state universities.
Dordt College has also recently been named by The Princeton Review as one of the best colleges in the Midwest.
