Brian De Young to present organ recital at Dordt College
November 12, 2012
The
community is invited to attend an organ recital by Dordt College senior Brian De Young Saturday, November 17, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A reception will follow.
De Young, of Minneapolis, Minnesota, is a music performance and pedagogy major. He will perform J.S. Bach’s Prelude and Fugue in E Minor, also known as The Wedge, as well as pieces by César Franck, Maurice Duruflé, and Girolamo Frescobaldi.
“I enjoy playing the organ because of the wide range of sounds it can produce,” said De Young. “The organ can be bright and cheerful, full and majestic, or intimate and reflective. I chose repertoire for my recital that puts all of these qualities of the organ on full display.”
De Young is a student of Dordt College organ instructor Matthew Geerlings.
