Warner and Wolterstorff Honored By NAIA

(Wednesday, March 13; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Trevor Wolterstorff and Cliff Warner, a pair of seniors at Dordt College, have earned NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball All-American recognition for the recently completed 2012-13 season.

Wolterstorff, a 6-4 forward, earned second-team honors for the second straight year and Warner, a 5-10 guard, was an honorable mention pick for the second consecutive season.  Both were first-team all-GPAC picks the last two seasons.

Wolterstorff finished the season with a 14.5 points per game scoring average to go with a team high 6.6 rebounds per game.  Wolterstorff converted 57.1 percent of his shots from the field and had 58 assists and 34 steals this season.  A third-team pick as a sophomore, Wolterstorff leaves Dordt College 2nd all-time in scoring (1,968 points), 3rd all-time in rebounding (751), 15th in both assists (226) and steals (116) and 10th in field goal shooting percentage (55.0).  He was also named a 2012, 2013 NAIA Scholar-Athlete and a first-team Capital One-CoSIDA Academic All-American.  Wolterstorff was also named to the 2013 NAIA Division II All-National Tournament Team.

Warner converted 14.1 points per game this season while making 42.9 percent of his field goals and 43.3 percent of his three-point shots.  Warner made a Dordt record 117 three-point baskets this season and led the team in assists with 133 and had a team high 42 steals and averaged 3.0 rebounds per game.  Warner was the team leader in minutes played per game at 33.5.  Warner leaves Dordt College 1st all-time in made three-point baskets (229), 3rd in assists (360), 10th in steals (130) and 16th in scoring (1,184 points).  He as a member of the 2012 NAIA Division II All-National Tournament Team.

Dordt College recently concluded a 28-7 season, advancing to the NAIA Division II Men’s National Basketball Tournament quarterfinals.
