Van Roekel Picks Dordt College

March 27, 2013

(Wednesday, March 27; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Kylie Van Roekel, a senior at Illiana Christian High School (Indiana), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Van Roekel, a 5-11 middle blocker and right side hitter, had 158 kills and was in on 100 blocks.  She helped Illiana Christian to a pair of regional championships and the sectional runner-up finishes.  Van Roekel claimed all-area and all-conference honors and was a team captain.

“We are thrilled to have Kylie join our program.  She comes from a good school and volleyball program at Illiana Christian High School under head coach Nikki Van Dyke,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson. ”Kylie has experienced great competition nationally with the Diamond Elite Volleyball Academy (Griffith, IN) led by coach Emilio Torres. Her leadership strengths as well as her talents blocking and hitting will provide great depth for us in the middle hitter position.”

Kylie is the daughter of Galen and Kim Van Roekel.  She plans to study pre-occupational therapy at Dordt College.
