Dordt hosts national summer stats workshop for faculty

April 18, 2013

This summer, Dordt College will host a statistics workshop for faculty from around the nation who have experience in introductory statistics and wish to explore a new way to teach it.

The June 24-28 workshop titled “Teaching the Process of Statistical Investigations with a Randomization-Based Curriculum” will focus on use of randomized methods and the importance of context in the design and analysis of research studies.

Those who participate in the course will receive hands on experience as well as a preliminary copy of the textbook “Introduction to Statistical Investigations,” which is being authored by a team led by Dr. Nathan Tintle, associate professor of statistics at Dordt College.

The project is supported by the National Science Foundation and John Wiley Publishers, with additional support for the workshop from the Mathematical Association of America.
