Dordt Soccer Plays First Road Game

GAMETIME… Dordt College will travel to Storm Lake, Iowa to face the Buena Vista Beavers on Tuesday, September 17 at 6:00 in women’s play.  Results will be posted on www.dordt.edu/athletics ; https://www.facebook.com/dordtdefenders and https://twitter.com/dcathletics when the game is complete.

SCOUTING REPORT… Buena Vista is 1-4 this season with a win over Illinois College.  Losses for the Beavers have come to Martin Luther, Nebraska Wesleyan, Grinnell and AIB College of Business. 

Tori Carson leads Buena Vista with three goals and three other players have one goal each.  Tricia Schwartz has played the majority of the minutes in goal and has recorded 19 saves and has a 5.64 goals allowed per-90 minutes played average. 

DORDT COLLEGE NOTES… The Defenders are 0-5 this season and are coming off a double overtime loss to Friends (Kansas). 

Katie Kortman has played 335 minutes in goal and has made 45 saves and has a 3.7 goals per-90 minutes played average.  Marissa Le Duc has managed six shots on goal for the Defenders and Nicole Postman has four shots on goal.

THE SERIES… Dordt leads the series 2-0 with the last meeting coming in 2002 when Janna Brink found the goal twice in a 5-0 win.

LAST TIME… Dordt lost a 1-0 decision to Friends in double overtime on Saturday.  Dordt was outshot on goal 11-7 and Katie Kortman made ten saves in goal before Friends got the game winner through in the 107th minute.

Buena Vista lost a 6-1 decision to AIB on Thursday, September 12.  AIB got two goals in the first half before Buena Vista’s Tori Carson scored 20 minutes into the second half.  AIB then reeled off four unanswered goals in the final 25 minutes of play.  Buena Vista was outshot 12-4 on goal.

NEXT UP…… Dordt will go to Jamestown on Saturday, September 21 to face the Jimmies in women’s and men’s play and the Defenders will conclude non-conference play on Wednesday, September 25 when they travel to Dubuque, Iowa to face Clarke. 

Buena Vista is scheduled to face Webster College, Friday, September 20.
