Men's Soccer Has Trio Earn GPAC Honors

(Monday, November 18; Sioux Center, Iowa)    Three Dordt College Defender men’s soccer players earned post-season honors in voting done by the Great Plains Athletic Conference coaches at the conclusion of the 2013 season.

Eric Grootenboer (Senior; Chatham, Ontario) earned second team honors while Cam Stuive (Junior; Hudsonville, Michigan) and Brady Van Holland (Junior; Sioux Falls, South Dakota) earned honorable mention honors.

Grootenboer scored eight goals this season as the Defenders posted a 3-6-1 GPAC mark and a berth in the GPAC post-season tournament.  Grootenboer played in all 19 games and brought his career total to 23 goals and leaves the Defenders having played in 68 games during his career.  Grootenboer was a second-team pick last season.

Stuive was a mainstay on the Dordt defense that allowed 2.1 goals per game and posted three shutouts.  Van Holland led the team in goals with nine and also had five assists.  Van Holland has played in 55 games during his career and has 18 career goals with nine assists. Stuive is a repeat honorable mention pick from 2012 and Van Holland earned first-team honoree last season.

The Defenders posted a 5-13-1 overall record before their season ended in the quarterfinal round of the GPAC Tournament.
