Requirements
Types of Admission
Students may be admitted under one of the following categories:
- REGULAR ADMISSION is granted to all candidates who have met all the admission criteria:
- A bachelor's degree from a regionally-accredited institution
- At least 15 hours of approved undergraduate work in education
- Evidence of ability to successfully do graduate-level coursework:
- undergraduate grade point average of 3.00 (A = 4.00) or above
- GRE or MAT test scores
- recommendation by principal or supervisor
- A minimum of one year of successful teaching experience
- CONDITIONAL ADMISSION may be granted to applicants who have not provided all admission materials or who do not currently meet all of the above criteria.
Conditional status will be reviewed upon successful completion of nine semester hours of graduate credit at Dordt College. The graduate course work grade point average must be at least 3.0 and other regular admissions requirements must be met before conditional status can be changed to regular status.
- SPECIAL ADMISSION may be granted to those who do not plan to become candidates for the Master of Education program but wish to participate in one or more graduate courses.
Requirements For Applicants Seeking Special Admission

- A $25 application fee payable to Dordt College.
- An official transcript from each college/university from which a degree was received, or where any graduate credit was received should be sent directly to the Director of Graduate Education at Dordt College.
Additional Requirements For Applicants Seeking Regular Admission
- ALL of the above requirements, plus:
- A reference from your principal or supervisor. It should be submitted to the Graduate Education office.
- Scores from either the Miller's Analogy Test (MAT) or Graduate Record Exam (GRE). Only official scores which are less than five years old and sent directly to the Director of Graduate Education are valid.

The application due date for admission each year is May 15. However, applications are accepted throughout the year. Students are encouraged to apply and register for summer courses early so that they have sufficient time to work on the pre-campus phase of classes.
