Women's Basketball Sixth In Poll

(Thursday, October 11; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Dordt College received 50 points in the Great Plains Athletic Conference women’s basketball preseason poll and tied for sixth in the balloting done by the conference coaches.

Dordt was 10-18 last season and 5-15 in the GPAC.  The Defenders return their top seven scorers from last season led by Kara Van Dyke and Brianna Spronk with 10.3 and 10.1 scoring averages respectively.  Dordt lost six of their conference games in 2011-12 by seven points or less.

The Defenders open the 2012-13 season at home against Jamestown on November 2 and will travel to Doane in Crete, Nebraska to open the GPAC season on Saturday, November 17.

Points in the poll were awarded on a 10-1 basis and coaches couldn’t vote for their own teams.
