Dordt College nursing program open to more students

March 28, 2014

What began with a 2007 graduating class of only four students has grown into a thriving nursing program with more than 100 students. Dordt’s unique consortium relationship with St. Luke’s College in Sioux City, Iowa, provides students with a bachelor of science in nursing degree (B.S.N.) grounded in strong clinical experiences and a broad Christian education.

The Dordt College nursing department is currently making a transition to a curriculum that allows students to start their joint Dordt/St. Luke’s semester in the fall or spring of their sophomore year. As a result, the nursing program has additional openings for students interested in transferring and beginning their nursing education at Dordt. Although these additional openings are temporary, the department is excited about the opportunity to welcome additional transfer and perspective nursing students.

Dordt consortium students have demonstrated consistently high NCLEX (National Council Licensure Examination for Registered Nurses) pass rates and a 100 percent placement rate for B.S.N. graduates within six months of graduation. Dordt’s nursing program is recognized and respected for its well-prepared nurses.
