BIOLOGY
Overview
Genetic manipulation. Stem cells. Ecological stress. New medicines. Pandemics. Biofuel research. The Asian Carp invasion. All of these topics are center stage in today's world. And all are rooted in biology. Well-trained Christian biologists and scientists can have a significant influence in these areas and more.
At Dordt College, studying biology means exploring and discovering God's creation. You will come to understand how God cares for and sustains the world's life support systems. Biology reveals God's majesty and wisdom in the creation.
Studying with dedicated and enthusiastic scientists, you will learn about the cellular and subcellular nature of living things, how different creatures interact within the planet's ecosystem, and how to become a caring steward of creation.
In Dordt’s biology department, you’ll do biology while you’re learning about it. The culmination of your biology degree is an individual research project that you design and carry out. Many biology students also serve as teaching and lab assistants, working directly with their professors in lab and field work. Qualified students spend part or all of a summer in internships on campus or in research laboratories at other institutions. These experiences can develop into student co-authorship of professional papers and presentations at national meetings.
