Unsubsidized Stafford Loans
Amount: Up to $3,500 (FR)
$4,500 (SO)
$5,500 (JR/SR)
The main difference between the unsubsidized and regular Stafford loans is that during the student's time in school the government pays the interest on a regular Stafford, but the student pays the interest on the unsubsidized Stafford. The unsubsidized Stafford is available to anyone, regardless of financial need. Always use a regular Stafford first, if possible.
Repayment is identical to the Stafford, with one exception. Interest repayments begin immediately, but principal repayments begin six months after schooling is completed.
Entrance Counseling
All new students who are eligible for a Federal Stafford Loan (even those who do not plan to take it) are required to complete an entrance counseling session. This session will ensure that you understand your responsibilities as a student loan borrower and is required in order to receive the money for your Stafford Loan.

Please complete your session before July 1, 2010.
