Assistant Professor of Education

I love to teach! Before joining the Education department at Dordt College in 2012, I taught in Christian schools in California and Iowa for 14 years. While I thoroughly enjoyed teaching in K-12 schools, I have found that I also love teaching future teachers. I view this calling as a tremendous blessing, and I do not take it lightly.
My interest areas in education are varied. Most of my teaching experience before joining the faculty at Dordt was in middle schools, so I have a heart for young adolescents, and for shaping their future teachers. As a former science teacher, I am very interested in science education--both promising practices for teaching well, and teaching science from a Biblical perspective. I am a self-described curriculum and instruction junkie, and I have done some curriculum development work for several Christian publishers. And I have always been intrigued by teaching with technology...now I am conducting doctoral work in educational technology. I blog my reflections on these topics; you are welcome to read along at http://iteach-and-ilearn.blogspot.com.
