Carl Fictorie joined the faculty in 1995 and teaches general chemistry, quantitative analysis, physical chemistry, environmental chemistry, and inorganic chemistry. In addition, he advises premedical students and is a co-director of the Kuyper Scholars Program with Dr. Mary Dengler. He holds a B.A. from Dordt College and a Ph.D. in materials chemistry from the University of Minnesota. His special areas of interest are the preparation of biomass-based catalysts for the synthesis of biodiesel and the philosophy of chemistry.  See more on his homepage.
