Sara attended Hope College where she obtained a BA in Psychology and Art.  She is originally from Holland, Michigan as well.  She has worked in a variety of educational settings including Outdoor Education in the Adirondacks of upstate New York, the Splash Van of San Diego County Schools, and high school art teaching in Pinellas County Florida.  Travel is an essential aspect of her artwork as well.  In the summer of 2013 she embarked on a cross-country train trip from Champaign, Illinois to Portland, Oregon.  She stopped in several towns along the way to conduct artistic research and create art objects in the local community.  She also holds a Masters in Education from Grand Valley State University and an MFA in New Media from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
