Graduate education wraps up at Dordt College

July 23, 2012

Dordt College’s summer Master of Education program is nearing conclusion for the year. And this year, all but one class is being conducted online. This innovative format provides a convenient option that allows people to stay in their homes while receiving a top-quality graduate education with Dordt College. Forty-eight students registered for Dordt’s Master’s classes, and students are enlisted in the program from as near as Sioux Center and as far as Nigeria and Nicaragua.

The Dordt College Master of Education program has two tracks to choose from: Curriculum and Instruction, and Educational Leadership. The Curriculum and Instruction program aims to provide a theoretical and practical experience for the educator who wants to learn more about how to teach Christianly. The Educational Leadership program prepares the student to become an educational leader in the field of special education or the role of principal.

“What makes Dordt’s Master’s program unique is that we help our students think through, in a very deep way, what it means to teach and lead Christianly,” said Tim Van Soelen, Graduate Education Director for Dordt College. “The program is designed with the teacher or principal in mind. We try to blend face-to-face learning with the best of our online learning options.”

The Dordt College master of education program is accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools and the Iowa Department of Education. To learn more about graduate studies at Dordt College, visit
