Dordt College Press publishes Hulstís "Christian Education: Issues of the Day"

July 30, 2012

Dr. John B. Hulst is no longer president of Dordt College, but he continues to champion the cause of “supporting the college in maintaining its kingdom vision.” This drive motivated him to compile 12 of his speeches into the latest book from Dordt College Press, Christian Education: Issues of the Day.

“The purpose from the beginning has been to reflect my understanding of Dordt’s reformational vision, not only in teacher education but in all of the disciplines,” says Hulst in the book’s prologue.

Hulst’s interest in Christian education goes beyond the walls of Dordt College, however. In Christian Education: Issues of the Day, Hulst highlights the importance of Christian scholarship in general and educational excellence in Christian schools. He tackles topics such as religion and science as well as Christian education and creativity.

Christian education, to Hulst, is “a witness to the kingdom of God that deserves our wholehearted support!”

Hulst, who served Dordt College in various capacities for 28 years, also served in his retirement as executive secretary of the International Association for the Promotion of Christian Higher Education for six years. He and his wife Louise reside in Pella, Iowa.

Christian Education: Issues of the Day is available from the Dordt College Bookstore as well as from major online booksellers. The book is also available from the Dordt College Press website at
