Softball Adds Cherkas

(Monday,
August 6; Sioux Center, Iowa) Jayde Cherkas, an all-conference honoree at Iowa Lakes Community College, has announced her intention to enroll at Dordt College and join the Defender softball program.
Cherkas batted .425 her freshman season at Iowa Lakes and batted .394 last season and earned second team all-conference and all-region honors both seasons. She was named to the 2009 Iowa High School State Tournament honor team while helping Johnston to a Class 4A State Championship.
Jayde is the daughter of Amy and Steve Cherkas of Maryville, Missouri. She plans to study nursing at Dordt College.
