Dordt Golf At Wilderness Ridge Next

Meet… Dordt goes to the Doane College Invite at Wilderness Ridge on Monday and Tuesday, September 17 and 18.

Participants… Briar Cliff, Concordia, Doane, Dakota Wesleyan, Morningside, Midland, Northwestern and Dordt will all have teams at the two day event.  Wilderness Ridge is located near Lincoln, Nebraska and will play right at 7,100 yards.

Last Time At Wilderness Ridge… Dordt hasn’t been at Wilderness Ridge since 2010 when they shot  a 315 on day two of the Doane Invitational on Tuesday, September 28 to claim third place at the meet with a 635 for the two round event. Dordt's Jordan Janz, returning from injury, won the event with a 151 in his first action of the fall. Janz finished in a three-way tie and ended up placing first by virtue of the tie-breaker wiht his second day 75.

Brandon McCracken shot a 78 on Tuesday for a 160 and finished in 16th while Mike Rozenboom improved one stroke from his Monday total for an 80 and a 161 overall. Jon Holwerda completed the Dordt scoring with a 163.

Southeast Community College won the event with a 618 and Northwestern was second with a 628. 71 golfers took part in the 13-team event that was played at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska. The course was a par 71 and measured 7107 yards.

Last Time Out… Led by Sam Vos's 74, the Dordt College Defender men's golf team is in fifth place after GPAC Qualifier #1 at Landsmeer in Orange City, Iowa on Thursday, September 13.

Dordt totaled a 306 and trail fourth place Midland by four strokes. Zach Kooiker had a 76 and Jon Holwerda a 77. Both Madison Moss and Derek Fox had 79s to account for Dordt's five scores. Four scores count in the standings of the four round event. The next round will be at Green Valley in Sioux City, Iowa on October 10.

Northwestern leads after shooting a 282. Jay Monahan has the individual lead after shooting a 67. Vos's 74 puts him in a tie ninth and Kooiker is tied for 17th.

Landsmeer was set up for par 71 and 6,441 yards in length.

The Lineup… Sam Vos is Dordt’s low man thus far with a 77 average through three rounds while Zach Kooiker is at a 78.3 average.  Jon Holwerda is sporting an 81.3 average and Nathan Middel and Micah Christensen are both at 81.5.  Madison Moss is right in that neighborhood as well with an 81.7. 

After This…The Defenders will send a unit to the AIB Invite hosted at Marshalltown on Friday and Saturday, September 28 and 29.
