Honors recital at Dordt College

The Dordt College music department is presenting an honors recital on Friday, September 21, at 3 p.m., in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. A reception honoring the performers will follow in the lobby.

Performers in the honors recital have all received named music scholarships made possible by Dordt College donors. These scholarships were awarded to freshmen who contributed significantly to their high school or community music program and to upperclassmen who have contributed significantly to the Dordt College music program. The recital will feature piano, organ, instrumental, and voice soloists.

Participants include freshman Faith Bierma of Sioux Center, Iowa (violin), Marshall Fynaardt of New Sharon, Iowa (tenor), Monica McConnel of Sioux Center, Iowa (piano), Rianne Van Wingerden of Newton, New Jersey (piano), and Nathan Walter of Norfolk, Nebraska (piano); sophomore Ivory Niewenhuis of Corsica, South Dakota (organ); juniors Mandy Faber of Bothell, Washington (organ), Ali Kroese of Hull, Iowa (organ), and Devin Veenstra of Pella, Iowa (trombone); and seniors Maria Bouwkamp of Pella, Iowa (mezzo-soprano), Brian De Young of Sioux Center, Iowa (organ), and Christina Harbaugh of Edgewood, Iowa (trumpet).

Dordt College named music scholarships include the Bloemendaal Organ Scholarship, the John and Frances Bonnema Memorial Music Scholarship, the Joe J. Dahm Memorial Music Scholarship, the Minnie J. Dahm Organ Education Scholarship, the Jack Grotenhuis Memorial Scholarship, the John and Reona Reinsma Organ Scholarship, the Ringerwole Organ Scholarship, the Ringerwole Piano Scholarship, and the Steensma Music Scholarship.
