Women's Soccer Faces AIB Tuesday

GAMETIME…Dordt College and the American Institute of Business (AIB) will meet for a women’s soccer game in Fort Dodge, Iowa on Tuesday, September 18.  The game will start at 5:00.

SCOUTING REPORT… AIB is 1-5 this season with a win over Faith Baptist.

The Eagles have been outscored 50-20 this season and are led by Carlan Samuelson with 11 goals and an assist.  Four of Samuelson’s goals came in the win over Faith Baptist.  Samantha Noffke has played 505 minutes in goal with 40 goals allowed and she has a 7.1 goals per 90 minutes played average with 60 saves.

AIB is getting outshot 233-105 this year and have been outshot on goal 149-49. 

DORDT COLLEGE NOTES… The Defender women are 0-4-2 this season and this is the final non-conference tune-up for the Defenders as they open the GPAC season this weekend.

The Defenders have been outscored 17-8 this season and have been outshot 89-53 by their opponents.  Foes have managed 56 shots on goal to the Defenders’ total of 32.

Allison Hogan has found the net three teams for the Defenders and Sarah Byron twice.  Hogan has also assisted on two goals.  Katie Kortman has logged 580 minutes in goal and has allowed 17 goals while making 39 saves.  Kortman has a 2.64 goals allowed per-90 minutes played average.

THE SERIES…This is the first ever meeting between Dordt and AIB in women’s soccer.   The Des Moines based school started playing varsity intercollegiate athletics in 2010.

LAST TIME… Dordt lost a 2-1 decision to Jamestown on Saturday, September 15, giving up the game winner in the 80th minute.  Megan Knapper scored Dordt’s goal in the 29th minute to tie the contest.  Dordt was outshot on goal 6-3.

AIB lost a 5-2 decision to Morningside on Friday, September 13.  Morningside put 12 shots on frame to four shots for the Eagles.  Samuelson had a goal as did Lexy Rees.

NEXT UP…… Dordt opens conference play on Saturday, September 22 at home against Concordia starting at 1:00.
