SCOUTING REPORT… The Nebraska Wesleyan women are 1-7-2 this season and 0-1-1 in league play. The win for Wesleyan is over Westminster on September 17 and the ties are with Buena Vista and Midland. Northwestern beat the Prairie Wolves in double overtime 3-2 on September 22.
The Nebraska Wesleyan women have been outscored 31-13 and have been outshot on goal 102-75. Ashlee Slade has four goals to lead the Prairie Wolves and Rachel Granville has three assists. Emily Dierks has played 944 minutes with 31 goals allowed and has allowed 2.95 goals per-90 minutes played.
The Wesleyan men are 4-4-1 overall and stand 1-1 in the conference with a win over Northwestern to their credit and a loss to Midland in their most recent outing. Wesleyan has been outscored 18-15 and have been shutout twice this season.
Opponents have put 93 shots on goal to 43 for the Prairie Wolves. Colby Twist has seven goals and Kyle Jisa has four. Turner Mead has played 545 minutes in goal with 13 goals allowed for a 2.15 goals allowed per-90 minutes played.
DORDT COLLEGE NOTES… The Defender women are 1-6-2 this season and 0-2 in the GPAC with a pair of one goal losses in the league to Concordia and Northwestern.
The Defenders have been outscored 22-18 this season and have been outshot overall 123-68 and on goal 77-61. Allison Hogan has five goals and three assists and Sarah Byron has scored four goals with an assist. Katie Kortman has been in goal for 796 minutes with 21 goals allowed and has 54 saves. Her goals allowed average is 2.37.
The Defender men are 5-3 overall and 1-1 in the GPAC while outscoring teams 25-13. The Defenders have 138 shots to 92 for foes and they have 73 shots on goal while opponents have put 50 shots on frame. The Defenders have won back to back games twice and have lost back to back games once.
THE SERIES… The women’s series is very tight with Dordt trailing 8-7-1. Dordt scored a goal in the 11th minute last year in Sioux Center and held on for a 1-0 win while getting 11 shots on goal to four for the visitors.
The Defender men are 13-9-2 in games against Nebraska Wesleyan. Dordt won the October 1 meeting last year with Derick Sackey and Cameron Stuive putting goals in during the first half for a 2-0 win. Dordt had 10 shots on goal to one for thevisitors.
LAST TIME… Both Dordt College teams were on the short end of 1-0 decisions with Northwestern on Wednesday in Orange City. The Defender women surrendered a goal in the 70th minute and were outshot on goal 12-6 in the loss while the Defender men gave up a goal in the 67th minute while getting outshot 8-6.
Nebraska Wesleyan played to a 1-1 tie with Midland on Wednesday in Lincoln. Amber Johnson had a goal in the 26th minute for Wesleyan before the Prairie Wolves gave up a goal in the 79th minute. Midland outshot Wesleyan 18-13.
The Wesleyan men lost to Midland 5-1 after allowing four goals in the first half. Colby Twist had a goal in the 47th minute for the Prairie Wolves’ only score. Wesleyan was outshot on goal 12-3 with Turner Mead recording seven saves in goal.
NEXT UP…… Wesleyan will play Doane on October 3 in Crete, Nebraska while the Defenders are at home with Mount Marty on Tuesday, October 2 starting at 2:00.
