Women's GPAC Golf Wednesday For Dordt

Meet… GPAC Qualifier #2 will be played on Wednesday, October 3 at Wilderness Ridge in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Participants… All 11 GPAC schools will field teams in the GPAC Qualifier.

Last Year… The Dordt College Defender women's golf team finished sixth in GPAC Qualifier #2 at the Fremont Golf Club on Saturday, October 8. The Defenders were two shots out of fifth place and seven shots out of fourth place in the 11 team field.

Dordt was paced by Renae Visser with an 87 while Justean De Groot and Micayla Weaver each carded 92's. Angela Johnson was Dordt's fourth score kept with a 110. Visser's finish was good for ninth on the day and De Groot and Weaver were tied for 18th in the 55 golfer field.

Dakota Wesleyan had a 331 for first behind Dani Bellet's 79 and Morningside placed second with a 356.

Last Time Out… The Dordt College Defender women's golf team totaled a 786 for its two round competition a the Doane Fall Invite/NAIA Preview Meet. The 36 hold event was held at the Wilderness Ridge Golf Course in Lincoln, Nebraska.

Kim Brumfield totaled a 180 for the event with a 94-86 and Renae Visser had a 187 by going 90-97.

Twenty teams competed on both days with Lubbock Christian scoring a 592 and William Woods had a 616. Sinae Montoya from Lubbock Christian University earned medalist honors with a 140.

GPAC Qualifer History… Dordt College placed sixth after day one of the GPAC Qualifying event held at Landsmeer in Orange City, Iowa. The Defenders shot a 390 and were eight shots out of third place in a hotly contested race in hot windy conditions.

Dordt was paced by Renae Visser with an 8th place total of 89. Kim Brumfield had a 94 which was 13th after day one.

The second day of the event will be held October 3 at Wilderness Ridge hosted by Doane College.
Dakota Wesleyan (352) has a two stroke advantage over Northwestern (354) after one round. Both teams were paced by round medalists as Lauren Fitts and Emma Wynja each shot 84's.

The Lineup… Three Defender women have broken a 100 average so far this season.  Renae Visser has the lowest average of all Dordt players with a 90.0 through five rounds.  Kim Brumfield has a 91.8 average in four rounds and Raeanne DeRousse is at 98.6 in five rounds.

After This…This draws a conclusion to the fall portion of the 2012-13 women’s golf season.
