Dordt Soccer Travels Into Missouri

GAMETIME… Dordt College travels to Columbia, Missouri on Saturday, October 6 and will face the Columbia Cougars in non-conference soccer.  The women’s game gets underway at 1:00 with the women to follow.

SCOUTING REPORT… The Columbia women are 4-7 this season and 3-1 in the American Midwest Conference and they have won two of their last three games.  The Cougars have outscored teams 22-12 this season and are led by Stephanie Hale with five goals and Amanda Caldwell has four goals with three assists.  Kelly Ross tops the tea with four assists.  Erica Ramirez has played 505 minutes in goal and has allowed four goals and has made 14 saves.  Amber Petty has 17 saves and eight goals allowed in 420 minutes played.

The Columbia men are 9-0-3 this season and 4-0-1 in the American Midwest Conference.  Lyon College played them to a 1-1 tie on September 29 in league play.  Columbia has outscored teams 31-9 this season and have outshot opponents on goal 76-40.  Rafael Ramos has seven goals scored and Marko Paunovic has six goals.  Andres Acosta has assisted on eight goals.  Matt McKenna has played 805 minutes in goal with eight goals allowed and 21 saves.  His goals allowed average is 0.89.

DORDT COLLEGE NOTES… The Dordt College women are 1-8-2 overall and 0-4 in GPAC play.  Three of the Defenders’ losses this season are by one goal.  Dordt has been shutout 4-0 in its last two games.  Dordt lost a game to Mount Marty on Tuesday after getting outshot 9-6 on goal.  The Defenders have been outshot on goal 99-68 this season and have been outscored 30-18.  Allison Hogan has a team high five goals and Sarah Byron has four.   Hogan is also the team leader in assists with three.  Katie Kortman has played most of the minutes in goal with 854 minutes and 56 saves while allowing 23 goals—a 2.42 average.

The Defender men are 6-5 this season and 2-2 in the GPAC with a win over Mount Marty snapping a two game losing streak.  Josh Brinkerhoff leads the team in goals with seven and Eric Grootenboer has six.  Brady Van Holland, Scott Van Wylen, Grootenboer and David Miedama all have three assists.  Dordt has outscored teams 31-19 and has outshot teams 95-71 on goal.  Jon Brinkerhoff has played 1000 minutes in goal and has allowed 19 goals with 51 saves.  His goals allowed average is 1.71.

LAST TIME… The Columbia women beat Hannibal LaGrange 3-0 on Wednesday night and outshot the visitors on goal 13-2.  Kelly Ross scored two goals and Ramirez made two saves in goal.

The Dordt women were shutout by Mount Marty on Tuesday night 4-0.

The Columbia men were 1-0 winner over Hannibal LaGrange on Wednesday with Rafael Ramos scoring in the tenth minute on a free kick.  Columbia had five shots on goal to three for Hannibal LaGrange.

Brady Van Holland scored three goals in a 5-2 win for the Defenders over Mount Marty.  Dordt outshot the Lancers 10-4 and Brinkerhoff had two saves in goal.

NEXT UP…… Columbia will visit William Woods on Tuesday, October 9  Dordt will host Dakota Wesleyan on October 10.
