Soccer Hosts Doane Saturday

GAMETIME… Dordt College will host Doane on Saturday, October 20 in GPAC play.  The women’s game gets underway at 1:00 and the men follow at about 3:00.  Audio of the games can be heard at www.dordt.edu/athletics.  Results will be posted on www.dordt.edu/athletics ; https://www.facebook.com/dordtdefenders and https://twitter.com/dcathletics .

SCOUTING REPORT… The Doane women are 8-5 overall and 4-3 in the GPAC.  The Tigers have lost three games in a row and their last win is over Briar Cliff on October 6.  Doane has outscored teams 35-23 and hve outshot teams on goal 140-98.  Courtney Richards and Sara Cushing have 12 and 11 goals each and Morgan Karloff has set up seven goals with assists.  Kelsey Stark has spent 1163 minutes in goal with 23 goals allowed for a 1.78 goals per-90 minutes played average.

The Doane men are 4-9-1 overall and 3-4 in the conference. Doane has lost three games in a row with their last win coming over Briar Cliff on October 6.  Doane has been outscored 30-15 this year and has been outshot 109-76.  Jake Miller has four goals to lead the Tigers with three assists.  Casey Clark has played 787 minutes in goal with 15 goals allowed and  Greg Beall has played 505 minutes with a 2.67 goals allowed average. 

DORDT COLLEGE NOTES…The Defender women are 1-11-3 this season and 0-6-1 in the GPAC.  Dordt has been outscored 48-20 and outshot on goal 152-78.  Allison Hogan has five goals and three assists and Sarah Byron has four goals.  Marissa Le Duc shares team honors in assists with three.  Emily Holz has played 468 minutes in goal and as allowed 22 goals with 38 saves for a 4.22 average.

The Dordt men are 9-6 overall and 5-2 in the GPAC.  Dordt has outscored teams 42-24 and has outshot teams on goal 125-107.  Josh Brinkerhoff and Eric Grootenboer have nine goals each and Brady Van Holland has six goals and six assists.  Scott Van Wylen has four goals and six assists.  Jon Brinkerhoff has played 1,362 minutes in goal with 24 goals allowed and 74 saves for a 1.59 goals allowed per-90 minutes played average.

THE SERIES… The Defender women lead the series 12-5 and are 8-1 in games against Doane in Sioux Center.  Last year’s game was won by Doane 2-0 in Crete with Courtney Richards scoring both goals.

The Defender men trail the series 8-6. Dordt is 4-3 against Doane at home.  Doane won last year’s game 3-0 with Devon Strecker scoring two and Sean Dougherty had one goal.

LAST TIME… The Dordt College women lost a 2-0 decision to Briar Cliff on Tuesday.  Emily Holz had 12 saves in the loss for the Defenders and faced 14 shots on goal. 

Doane lost a 2-1 decision to Midland with Meghan Voigt scoring in the 77th minute after Midland took a 2-0 lead. 

The Defender men got goals from five different individuals to take a 5-0 win over Briar Cliff.  David Miedema, David Riley, Josh Brinkerhoff, Jeff McClelland and Brady Van Holland all had goals and Jon Brinkerhoff preserved the shutout with four saves.

Doane’s men lost a 5-0 decision on Wednesday to Midland.  Doane was outshot on goal 10-3.

NEXT UP…… The Defenders will host Morningside on Tuesday, October 23 starting with the women’s game at 2:00 and the men will follow at 4:00. 

The Tigers are scheduled to face Concordia in Seward on Wednesday, October 24.
