Dordt Cross Country No. 10 In Poll

(Tuesday, November 6; Sioux Center, Iowa)  The Dordt College Defender women’s cross country team moved up to no. 10 in the final edition of the 2012 NAIA Women’s Cross Country Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Defenders won the Great Plains Athletic Conference Championship on Saturday, November 4 with a total of 25 points, outdistancing the second place teams with 91 points.  Dordt swept spots three through eight to get its first ever women’s cross country championship.

Dordt totaled 481 points and was one point out of the no. 9 spot held by Concordia (Oregon) and was just nine spots out of the no. 7 spot in extremely tight balloting.

Dordt qualified for the NAIA Championship Meet by winning the GPAC title.  Dordt is the lone GPAC qualifier for the meet to be held on Saturday, November 17 in Vancouver, Washington.
