Gogg Signs On With Dordt Basketball

November 6, 2012

(Saturday, October 20; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Derik Gogg, a senior at Linn Mar High School, has announced his intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender basketball program.

Gogg, a 6-8 center/forward, earned honorable mention all-conference as a junior when he averaged 7.6 points per game with seven rebounds and two assists per contest.  He also had 2.1 blocks per contest and set a school record for blocked shots last season.

Gogg has been a part of a state championship team in 2011 and a team that took fourth place at the state tournament last season.

“We are very excited Derik has chosen to make an early commitment to Dordt College.  Derik comes from an outstanding high school program at Linn-Mar where he is coached by Chris Robertson and also gained valuable playing experience as a member of the Iowa Barnstormers under the leadership of Jamie Johnson and Greg Stephens,” said Dordt College coach Ross Douma.  “He will have an outstanding senior season and will compete against the best players in the state.  Derik possesses immense potential as a player and will be a great addition to our campus community.”

Derik is the son of Steve and Kris Gogg of Marion, Iowa.  He plans to study Criminal Justice at Dordt College.
