Men's Soccer Scholar Honors Announced

(Friday, November 30; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Four Dordt College men’s soccer players have earned NAIA Scholar-Athlete honors for the 2012 season.

All four athletes are repeat honorees with Josh Brinkerhoff (Senior; Branchville, New Jersey), Alex Geylense (Senior; Waupun, Wisconsin), David Miedema (Allendale, Michigan) and David Riley (Senior; Mount Vernon, Washington) all earned the honor released on Friday, November 30.

Riley, Miedema and Brinkerhoff all earned post-season honors from the GPAC at the conclusion of the 2012 season while Geylense’s season was cut short by injury.

The National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) announced today that 315 men's soccer student-athletes have been named 2012 Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes.

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
