Dordt College Choral Ensembles Christmas Concert Dec. 14

Dordt College will hold the annual Choral Ensembles Christmas Concert Friday, December 14, at 7:30 p.m. in the B.J. Haan Auditorium. Ensembles include the choral groups Bella Voce, Kantorei, Chorale, and Concert Choir, all under the direction of Dr. Benjamin Kornelis.

Bella Voce will perform a variety of familiar carols in addition to Jubilate Deo by László Halmos and a vocal adaptation of a movement from Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto in A Major featuring Professor of Music Emerita Dr. Karen DeMol on clarinet.

Kantorei will sing two of Poulenc’s Quatre motets pour le temps de Noël as well as lighter Christmas favorites.

Chorale will sing Charpentier’s Song of the Birth of Our Lord Jesus Christ featuring a chamber ensemble. They will also perform carols from France and Austria and an American spiritual Go Where I Send Thee.

Concert Choir will sing Prepare the Way, O Zion and Gloria by Charpentier as well as Sanctus by Rhinberger and “Agnus Dei” from Palestrina’s Pope Marcellus Mass.

The concert is free, with a freewill offering being received to help fund Dordt College music scholarships.
