Van Dyke Claims Player Of The Week Honor

(Monday, January 7; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Kara Van Dyke (Junior; Edgerton, Minnesota) has been named the GPAC/Hauff Mid-America Sports Women’s Basketball Player-of-the-Week for games played December 31-January 5.

Van Dyke averaged 19 points and seven rebounds a game on the week for the Lady Defenders.  In a 96-86 double-overtime win over #1 Concordia she totaled 27 points on 9-15 shooting.  She also made 9-9 free throws on the week and dished out five assists.  Dordt is 10-9 overall and 5-5 in the GPAC.

Van Dyke leads the Defenders in scoring with a 13.8 points per game average to go with a team high 7.6 rebounds and she is making 50.3 percent of her field goal attempts.

The Defenders will travel to Dakota State on Wednesday night for a non-conference game before returning home to face Midland on Saturday, January 12.
