More GPAC Honors For Vander Woude

(Wednesday, February 20; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Dordt College’s Briana Vander Woude earned the Most Outstanding Performance of the Meet for the Great Plains Athletic Conference this season.

Vander Woude claims the honor for her record setting performance in the pentathlon where she totaled 3,652 points, a new Great Plains Athletic Conference Championships record.  Vander Woude also totaled 44 points in the GPAC Championships and was named the Hauff Mid-America Sports/GPAC Indoor Track and Field Athlete of the Year.

Vander Woude also won the 60 meter hurdles and the high jump and earned points in the 60 meter dash, 200 meter dash and the long jump and has reached the automatic qualifying standard in all events for the NAIA National Championships.

This the second year in a row Vander Woude has swept the yearly honors.  The senior from Clara City, Minnesota totaled 42 points in the 2012 championship event to win the honor.

Vander Woude, along with nine individuals and five relay teams, will travel to the NAIA Championships February 28-March 2 in Geneva, Ohio.
