Schouten To Join Dordt Volleyball

February 22, 2013

(Friday, February 21; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Jill Schouten, a senior at Unity Christian High School (Iowa), has announced her intention to attend Dordt College and join the Defender volleyball program.

Schouten has been the setter for Unity the last two seasons and helped them to a no. 5 state ranking this past season and a War Eagle Conference championship.  Schouten averaged 8.46  assists and 1.80 digs per set as a senior and 7.29 assists and 1.93 digs as a junior.  She earned all-conference first-team honors in both 2011 and 2012 and was a second-team all-Northwest Iowa pick both years.

“Jill is a wonderful addition to our volleyball program as she has led her Unity Christian high school team for several years in the setting role,” said Dordt College coach Chad Hanson.  “Under Coach Janna Van Donge, Jill’s court leadership and competitiveness have continued to flourish.  She has a visible bond with her teammates on the court which is exactly what I want in a setter.”

Jill is the daughter of Mike and Pearl Schouten of Sioux Center, Iowa.  She plans to study education at Dordt College.
