Keizer and Wolterstorff Claim Scholar-Athlete Honors

(Tuesday, March 12; Sioux Center, Iowa)  Trevor Wolterstorff and Shawn Keizer were both named NAIA Division II Men’s Basketball Daktronics-Scholar-Athletes for the recently concluded 2012-13 season.

Both earn the honor for the second time in basketball and Wolterstorff claimed the honor in track and field last season.

Keizer, a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, is a biology major.  He played in all 131 games Dordt had the past four seasons and averaged 4.6 points and 3.8 rebounds per game this season.  Keizer was also the 2012 NAIA A. O. Duer Award Winner and plans to attend medical school upon graduation from Dordt College.

Wolterstorff, also a senior from Sioux Center, Iowa, is a psychology major.  He plans to attend graduate school in the future.  He averaged a team high 14.5 points and 6.6 rebounds per game.  In February Wolterstorff was named a Capital One Co-SIDA Academic All-American.  He started a record 129 games while at Dordt College and ranks second all-time in scoring at Dordt College and third all-time in rebounding.

134 student-athletes were named 2012 - 13 Daktronics-NAIA Division II Men's Basketball Scholar-Athletes.

Student-athletes are nominated by their institution's head coach and must maintain a minimum grade point average of 3.5 on a 4.0 scale and must have achieved a junior academic status in order qualify for the honor.
