Defender Softball Concludes Trip Friday

GAMETIME… Dordt will conclude the softball team’s trip to Arizona on Friday, March 15 against Mayville State and British Columbia.

SCOUTING REPORT… Information regarding Mayville State is limited.  The Comets were 1-5 entering play on Thursday, March 14.

British Columbia is 11-12 this season and have won four of their last five games.  The Thunderbirds are batting .295 this season and have outscored teams 115-100 so far this year.  Teams are batting .276 against the Thunderbirds. British Columbia has a 3.84 earned run average while opponents have a 4.26 earned run average.

Cassandra Dypchey is batting .438 this season with a team high 28 hits and six homeruns to go with 21 runs batted in.  Alana Westerhof is good for a .391 batting average and team high seven homeruns and 30 runs batted in.    Westerhof is 4-1 on the mound with a 4.08 earned run average. Leigh Della siege is 3-5 and has a 4.90 earned run average.  Westerhof has struck out 40 batters with 16 walks in 36 innings pitched and Della siega has 47 strikeouts in 40 innings of work.

DEFENDER NOTES… Dordt College was 2-9 entering play on Wednesday.  Through seven games the Defenders were batting .220 as a team and opponents were hitting .346.  Brittany Kooiker is batting .316 with six hits while Ashton Beaird and Ashley Van Kooten each have six hits as well and are batting .300 this season. 

NEXT UP… Dordt is scheduled to host Buena Vista in non-conference softball on Wednesday, March 20 at 4:00.
