Motionpoems creator's visit is rescheduled

April 11, 2013

The community is invited to hear award-winning Poet Todd Boss give a public reading on Thursday, April 18, at Dordt College in the Science and Technology Center Room S101 at 8:30 p.m.

During his visit to the college, Boss will meet with English and graphic design classes to discuss reading and writing poetry and share his work with Motionpoems, a poetry film initiative that turns contemporary poetry into short films.

Boss is the author of two books of original poetry. His debut work, Yellowrocket, was a finalist for the Minnesota Book Award and was named a Midwest Booksellers’ Honor Book for Poetry. His latest book, Pitch, was the winner of the Midwest Bookseller’s Choice Award and was a finalist in the Minnesota Book Award.

Boss’ poems have appeared in Poetry, The London Times, The New Yorker, NPR, Best American Poetry, and Virginia Quarterly Review, which called Yellowrocket “one of the year’s 10 best poetry books” and awarded him the Emily Clark Balch Prize.

Along with co-founder and co-director Angella Kassube, Boss developed Motionpoems in an effort to broaden the audience for poetry. What began as a project featuring his own poems has grown to a full-scale production company featuring the work of a variety of poets. To see a sampling of the projects visit
