Lacrosse Travels To Omaha Saturday

The Dordt College lacrosse team is slated to travel to Omaha, Nebraska for one contest against the Regis Rangers on Saturday. The game will be played at the Creighton University baseball complex at 10:30 am.

Last time out…
The Sowers took on division rivals Missouri S&T and Creighton in Kansas City, Missouri.
Dordt won an 8-5 decision in game one against Missouri S&T. The Sowers and Miners were locked in a tight battle throughout the contest before Dordt turned things up to score three straight goals with less than five minutes to play to seal the win.

Mark Opp led all scorers with two goals and four assists. Nate Weigel poured in three goals and Jesse Anderson had one assist. Keeper Jordan Yntema made six saves and allowed five goals.

The second game pitted Dordt against the Creighton Bluejays. The Bluejays boasted a 9-3 lead in the second half before the Sowers mounted a comeback bringing the game within a point at 9-8.

Creighton put the game away with a goal with under two minutes to go and eliminated the Sowers from postseason contention.

Mark Opp had three goals. Nate Weigel had two goals and one assist. Jesse Anderson, Tyler Hoover and Joel Kranenburg each scored one goal. Seth Borchard recorded two assists. Jordan Yntema made 17 saves and allowed 10 goals for a .630 save percentage.

This week…

Regis comes from the RMLC division in Denver, Colorado. The Rangers are 2-3 overall and 0-1 in the its division.

This will be the first contest between Dordt College and Regis.

The Rangers have allowed 53 goals to 44 goals scored through its season. Edward Emery has registered 11 goals and five assists from the attack position. Jack Walsh has scored eight times and dished out six assists while Brooks Gallagher has seven goals. Morgan McDonnell rounds out the top scorers for the Rangers with four goals. Keeper Jack Doering has seen the most minutes between the pipes for the Rangers. He has made 74 saves and allowed 54 goals for a .578 save percentage.

Dordt will host Benedictine at home on April 20 at 1:00pm.
